I n 1958, a group of prominent business leaders and sports enthusiasts set out to build an inclusive community. The intertwining of that principle with their passion for golf took root and flourished throughout the decades. That same group of visionaries would be proud to see that over 60 years later, we have built a tight-knit and diverse family of people from all walks of life, still holding true to the original values of inclusivity and love of the sport.

For us, golf isn't just a game; it's a lifestyle. It's a story that is told over lifetimes that connects us as a family. A child's first swing at the driving range, a father and son winning an invitational, a friendly conversation with a coworker: these memories each hold a page in the ever-expanding story of life in these hills.

I n 2022, a complete redesign of the 18-hole course at Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club was completed by Brian Costello of JMP Golf Design Group. An idea 10 years in the making, this ambitious project included the addition of a championship tee, an expanded putting green and a complete reconstruction of all 18 holes with state-of-the-art bunkers, USGA specified greens, environmentally sustainable irrigation and landscaping that better integrates this unique setting with the surrounding hills of Arastradero Nature Preserve. A concurrent upgrade was made to the clubhouse dining facilities, with expanded al fresco options befitting our modern era and the creation of an award-winning patio, Axe's Place.

Members and guests are now treated to unobstructed 180-degree vistas, revealing birds-eye views of the neighboring open-space preserves and the surrounding Bay Area. The new renovation enhances the idyllic location and one-of-a-kind property, which has been treasured by our Members for over 60 years. It's no surprise that Members call us the 'hidden gem of Northern California'.

The completed renovation merges the original vision from 1958 with the advanced technology of today, to create championship-caliber play with panoramic views adjacent to a peaceful natural setting, making this a top destination for golfers in the Bay Area.

With a commitment to sustainability that respects the surrounding environment, we've created a living, breathing course representative of its native Oak Savannah setting while meeting the demanding quality specifications of the USGA. Pebble Beach white sand bunkers, state-of-the art irrigation and an intricately detailed reshaping of the landscape have our well-traveled Members proclaiming that this is now one of the best courses in California.
